Role: Parish Minister, St Luke’s Vermont
Background: I studied biochemistry at LaTrobe, and worked for AFES while studying at Ridley College and MST. Before coming to St Luke’s I was the senior associate minister at Glen Waverley Anglican Church. Prior to that, I was a missionary in Kobe, Japan with the Church Missionary Society.
Family: I’m married to Michelle, and we have three young adult children and a dog named Remy.
Passionate about: I never grow tired of thinking and talking about and relating to God; and I love being part of God’s family. The best thing about being a minister is opening the Bible with people, praying together and experience God transforming our lives.
Hobbies: There is not enough time to enjoy all God’s good gifts. I’m into sport and I especially like watching NBA basketball; I barrack for the Bombers and play golf. I enjoy building and renovating around home and one of my favourite things is to walk the dog with Michelle at the end of the day. I love going out for a big breakfast and coffee with the family. My favourite genre of music is 80s hard rock and I’m enjoying watching Stranger Things with my son.
As a kid I tried to avoid church, but my parents sent me to the Ringwood Salvation Army for Sunday School. Through this experience I developed some respect for Jesus and the Bible, and as a teenager my curiosity to know God grew. I started reading the Bible, then attended the Mountain Gate Baptist Church. I became a follower of Jesus when I was convinced his life, death and resurrection, on my behalf, would reconcile me to God; and bring me new life with God.
God grew in my desire to enter Christian ministry through my uni years while I was a member of the LaTrobe Christian Union and Knox City Presbyterian Church.
I’ve been working out how to follow Jesus for over 30 years, and God is helping me in this through the Holy Spirit, His word and His people.
