Peter MacPherson - Senior Minister
Peter has been the Senior Minister since September 11th, 2000. Before that he had been a student minister and curate at St Alfred's. He trained at Ridley Melbourne and has also worked on the staff team of Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. Peter is presently the Archdeacon of Box Hill. Peter is married to Virginia and has three children, Hannah, David and Naomi. A long time ago Peter was born in Scotland and quite a while ago he was a secondary school English teacher. Mike McNamara - Senior Associate Minister
Mike's focus is on our Sunday and Wednesday morning congregations. Mike is from England (although both a British and Australian citizen) and was the Rector of John's Elmswell in Suffolk and Rural Dean of Lavenham. He has also served in parish ministry positions in Essex, Lancashire and Bedfordshire. He has been Chaplain at Nicholas Cathedral in Mwanza, Tanzania and has been a selector for "Crosslinks" Anglican mission agency. Mike is married to Jo and they have two children, George and Sarah. Jordan Hitchcock - Associate Minister
Jordan is the leader of the evening congregation. Jordan is married to Esme and they have two young sons. He was ordained a couple of years ago having done student placements in Carlton, Greythorn and a curacy in Frankston. Jordan is keen to teach God’s Word and help people become Christians and grow in their faith. He will begin January 27, 2013.
![]() Bev Churchward - Pastoral Care Minister
Bev is our part time pastoral care minister. She has a particular passion to see lives and relationships transformed by God. Bev has a nursing background and trained at Ridley Melbourne. Bev's husband Graeme and her lead our marriage ministries. Bev also has oversight of St Alfred's healing ministry. Now an ‘empty nester’ she especially enjoys time with her family and young grandson. Heather Mitchell - Church Administrator
Heather oversees our office administration with the help of lots of wonderful volunteers. Born and raised in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) Heather and Mike immigrated to Australia in 1991. "We came to St Alfred’s originally looking for somewhere to baptise our son, but found a fantastic community who were welcoming, loving and made us feel very much at home. Watching our sons Craig and Matthew grow in their faith to become teenagers and young adults, passionate about Jesus, is something we cherish. We also enjoy camping, 4 wheel-driving and watching movies - when we get the time!" Karen Winsemius - Children's and Families MinisterKaren heads up the team who run the children and families ministry at St Alfred's. She loves sharing the gospel with kids in creative and active ways and encouraging young leaders to grow and develop their leadership skills. Karen was a primary school teacher before deciding that working in children's ministry was much more important than teaching grammar and writing reports. DarrenRuss - Student MinisterDarren Russ is a student minister at St Alfred's under the supervision of Peter MacPherson. He is an ordination candidate for Melbourne Diocese. Sam Oldland - Youth MinisterSam started out as the interim Youth Minister but now he has the job! He's studying theology at Ridley as well. Sarah Long - Young Adults' Ministry InternSarah Long is our young adults' ministry intern. She is passionate about growing young peoples' desire to know God more and encouraging them to share their faith with those in their universities and workplaces. She is also finishing off her degree in biomedical science at Monash University. Sarah likes to spend the spare moments of her week by catching up with friends over brunch, a good coffee, or sometimes even dessert! Rachel Burrows - Children's Ministry InternRachel is the Children's Ministy intern and is excited about all that God has to teach her. She loves spending time with kids and teaching them about Jesus and enjoys learning from them along the way. She is currently part way through a speech pathology degree and enjoys reading, anything to do with language and hanging out with friends and family. |
